Scooter rental in Tirana is one of the easiest ways to move around the city, reach nearby beaches, and avoid parking stress. The question we get most often is whether a 125cc scooter can be rented with a car license. Here is the practical answer.

The license rules, simply

A category B licence may be accepted for scooters up to 125cc where legally accepted. Category A1, A2, or A can also apply, depending on the scooter and local requirements. For non-EU visitors, an International Driving Permit is recommended alongside the national licence.

Which scooter to pick

The Voge SR1 125 and Sym Jet X 125 are perfect city and beach machines. The Voge SR1 ADV 125 adds a more upright position and better comfort on rougher roads. We have two units of both Voge models — couples can ride matching scooters. All three are automatic: if you can ride a bicycle and drive a car, you'll manage within minutes.

Where a scooter makes sense

Tirana and its cafés, the Durrës coast, and relaxed exploring around any base town. For the Llogara Pass, long highway stretches, or mountain routes, step up to a real motorcycle — see our motorcycle guide for what license that takes.

Safety, briefly

  • Helmets are legally required. Ask us on WhatsApp to confirm helmets, phone holders, and any compatible luggage options before booking.
  • Watch for slick paint markings and gravel at junctions.
  • City traffic is assertive: be visible, be predictable.
  • Rain? Wait it out with a coffee. Showers pass quickly.

When not to choose a scooter

For long highway sections, mountain passes, heavy luggage, or two-up touring, choose a motorcycle or rental car instead. A scooter is practical and affordable, but it is not the right tool for every Albania route.
